+ ARTIST STATEMENT

"searching for expression through structure, I find myself bridging between the contemporary context and the most basic form of hand made images - drawing.

The power of drawing, through its constant relevancy as a form of human expression is at the center of my work. form and frame within a semi architectural environment these are my tools of research in a well defined yet intuitive process

The work manifests itself in three distinct yet profoundly interrelated ways: originals; editions; site specifics."

+ BIO

Yifat Gat, born Tel Aviv 1969. Lives in France.
After her military service (1988-90) Yifat Gat studied theater design at the Academy of Tel Aviv (1991-1993). In 1994-96 Yifat studied Fine Arts at the University of Fine Arts Midrasha, then continued at the Museum of Tel Aviv with additional studies 1997.
Gat began working as a freelance artist in 2000 with digital media and video art as her center, winning the prize of the America-Israel Foundation and SACD (2005).
in 2006 YG participated in the exhibition at the Museum Petach Tikva with its "3,000 per year " project, which was later shown in Sweden in the Museum of World Cultures for 2 years, from 2006 to 2008.

since 2007 YG focuses on hand made drawing as her primary means of expression.

in 2011 yifat founded and curated the CAA project.
